Hey fighters!
Recently, I watched the movie F1. I'm not a race car person, but I was on a plane and figured, "Why not?" It turned out to be very entertaining—I highly recommend it. I became engrossed in the story, the edge-of-your-seat racing scenes, and the strategy behind the sport that I'd never understood before.
One of the film's core messages really stuck with me. It's easy to get caught up in the fame, fortune, and glory of rising to the top. But in the end, the main character just wanted to capture that feeling he loved about racing. He just wanted to enjoy it the way he used to.
I often have to stop and ask fighters: Why are you doing this? What is it about boxing that you love?
If you aren't finding the thing you love about boxing during your training, why are you doing it? It's easy to lose sight of why we love this crazy sport while we are trying to get better, lose weight, increase endurance, or look good in front of others. But after the win or the loss, you always need to go back to the source. Are you still getting enjoyment out of it despite the noise?
We always hear "New Year, New You" in the fitness world. But sometimes, I think it's important to search for the "Old You"—to look for something that truly brought you joy but was forgotten along the way. Can you go back to that? Can you discover a part of yourself that you truly enjoyed but lost in the shuffle?
Sometimes it's hard to dig for that artifact of ourselves, but when we find it, it's like the Ark of the Covenant—powerful, awe-inspiring, and priceless. (And yes, making an Indiana Jones reference definitely reflects the "old me.")
What is a piece of the "old you" that you would like to rediscover this year?

This one really connected with me, A. I’ve had something similar on my mind & I hope to spend time rediscovering things I’ve loved & set aside. I’ve started by putting on music I haven’t listened to in a while :)
