Halloween Edition

  1. This year I'm going as a generic "futuristic apocalyptic badass", as friends put it. I think it's in line with my day to day mask-- someone who always has it under control. I kind of wear that mask normally but in the costume it feels more genuine because I'm playing into it while in the day to day I'm winging it. It's the choice to play that I've got things under control versus not having a choice. I fake it til I make it a lot and I'm working on trusting people to stick around when I'm genuinely me, without a mask. But when you've been masking your whole life, there's that question of who you even are if you're not performing for those around you?

  2. Another thoughtful, inspirational blog post Coach Aisling! Your words come through with great meaning and action - just like our work outs! I especially enjoyed the closing graf. "It's perfectly okay to wear a mask, and to let a little anxiety fuel your performance. As much as we strive to be genuine, sometimes putting on a costume is necessary for the game. But that's why Halloween matters: on this one night, we get to choose our mask for fun, for creativity, and to connect with the inner child in us." Thanks for Coaching us all in and outside of the ring!
